I was approached by an old school friend, whom I was in a Hard Rock band with for many years, to build for him a site to advertise his new record label, UV Records. Based on the music he was seeking to promote, and his own tastes and preferences, I built for him a WordPress based site to allow for ease of publishing Gig information and band profiles.
Brief
To design and create the identity and website of an indie record label. Features required included Logo design and the need for an automated blog for the client to communicate with visitors whilst the label accumulates artists.
Execution
The pictures in the gallery show various steps of the project. One is of the Client and myself when we performed in a band together for 5 years. The photo is from The Attik in Leicester taken in late 2002. After receiving the brief I did my initial research into current indie labels, and approached my client with a number of logo type ideas. Eventually, the U and upturned V was decided by the client as the best candidate. After this stage followed 2/3 design mock ups, and the best parts from each were combined into the finished site now online. The final solution was design initially by hand, then transfered into Photoshop. This was then sliced and hand coded into a WordPress Template. The system is fully automated, being based on the WordPress platform, and allows the client the best potential to manage their posts and artists with no outside influence or costs.
Result
I am very happy with the final outcome of the site, and believe Aaron has provided me with a firm stepping stone from which to launch my record label. I would gladly do business with him again in the future. Ben Doyle, UV Records.
